Kia ora Northland teachers and librarians - this blog is a place to share information relevant to school libraries, literacy and learning and support the Northland school library network meetings.
"Zest" is to aspire to a spirit of liveliness, enthusiasm and relish - and a nod to my citrus setting in the orchard town of Kerikeri where I am based as the National Library Schools Services Adviser for Northland.

Ideas for what to do with weeded books
Some fun activities are suggested in this article available from the SCIS Connections newsletter : eg making bookmarks and place mats, dioramas, book art, etc...
Hi. I have recently used the covers off weeded hardcover books - around A4 size - taped the edges and tidied them up, and written "St Mary's Library Paper Rest" on them, put them in a twizzy box, and the children now lean their paper on them when they're writing instead of the books. Don't know why I didn't think of it years ago!
