I have found a vast selection of book reviews on the New Zealand Book Council website, http://www.bookcouncil.org.nz/Education/Whats%20New/School%20Library .

These reviews have been useful when considering books to buy, and I also use a few lines, which I include in the library catalogue, so that students can view the notes to help them make informed decisions when choosing their library books.

Author / illustrator websites in catalogue records

There are so many wonderful resources and insights you can gather from visiting authors or illustrator's websites - nowadays it is easy to add those links to the relevant catalogue record- eg in the www field or the notes field... Then when students bring up a record there would be the link to more information... Also, non-fiction books often have a list of reputable sites on the topic which could be added... What do you think ?
