Looking at pictures in picture books

Looking at pictures in picture books is an interesting little book by Jane Doonan, published by Thimble Press in 1993, celebrating "the pleasures, challenges and rewards of looking at pictures as part of the total experience of reading a picture book."

It is available free in it's entirety from the Thimble Press website as a downloadable pdf

  3. I"m sorry, it appears that this resource is no longer available online at this link mentioned in this post.
The book is available from Thimble Press - here is a link to their order form : http://www.thimblepress.co.uk/orderform.htm
and from online booksellers such as amazon
http://www.amazon.com/Looking-at-Pictures-Picture-Books/dp/090335540X and very probably accessible through a library too. All the best with locating a copy! It is 21 years old now, and so while it may still have many useful points about critical evaluation etc the examples will be very out of date.
